How it works
Every day at midnight JST the same card goes up for everyone. You see a tight crop of its illustration and nothing else: no name, no set symbol, no HP. Name the Pokémon in 6 guesses.
A miss is not wasted. The crop opens a little, you get told whether the answer is from an earlier or later generation than your guess and whether the two share a type, and from the second miss on, one fact about the card itself — the year, the energy type, the rarity, the set, and last of all the illustrator.
The answer is chosen on the server from the date and never leaves it. It is not in the page, not in a script, not in the image filename, and the crop you are looking at was cut server-side to exactly the size you have earned. Reading the network panel gets you the same picture you can already see.
Cards are drawn from the illustration and secret rarities of every Japanese set in our catalogue, one at a time, and none repeats until all of them have been used. The Pokédex is fair game while you play.
