About

An English-language window onto the Japanese Pokémon market, for the people who resell it.

Last updated

Tokyo Legends Trading Co. wholesales authentic Japanese Pokémon sealed product to businesses in the United States. Everything we sell is bought in Japan, verified before it is exported, and shipped tracked to your door.

The problem we exist to solve

The Japanese Pokémon market is the origin market. Sets print there first, a large body of cards never gets an English print at all, and pack economics work differently enough that breakers have built whole businesses on Japanese product.

And it is almost entirely closed to a US buyer. Release calendars are published in Japanese. Set names, rarity stamps and card lists are in Japanese. The distributors do not sell abroad and the marketplaces that do are set up for one collector buying one card, not a shop buying twelve boxes. What reaches US shops arrives through a chain of intermediaries with the provenance rubbed off it.

Tokyo Legends is the English-language window onto that market. One place to see what is actually printing in Japan, in English, with rarity ladders explained rather than transliterated — and a way to buy it wholesale without needing a person in Tokyo.

Sourcing and verification

We buy inside Japan through established supply channels, not from open marketplaces. Every consignment is checked before it is exported:

  • Manufacturer shrink intact. Nothing is opened, weighed, searched or resleeved — not by us, and not by anyone in our chain. A wholesaler that touches the shrink is a wholesaler whose product cannot be trusted by anyone downstream.
  • JAN barcode checked against the printing. A Japanese-market box carries a Japanese barcode; a mismatch is the single most reliable tell there is.
  • Case seals and lot markings inspected on arrival and again before dispatch.
  • Double-boxed for export, tracked and insured, with the tracking number sent to you before the parcel physically leaves.

Where we cannot verify something, we do not sell it. Three SKUs on our own supplier price list are absent from this site entirely, in every form, pending written barcode confirmation — the standing rule is that we will not quote a box as Japanese until that is in writing.

Who we sell to

Business buyers, in three shapes, and the site is built around what each one actually needs:

  • Card shops — reliable sealed supply at a known unit cost, with a set-by-set catalogue you can show a customer before you commit to a case.
  • Breakers and streamers — volume on the sets whose pull structure your audience turns up for, with lead times you can build a stream schedule against.
  • Resellers — Japan-exclusive product that has no domestic distributor, which is the part of the catalogue nobody can compete with you on.

We are a wholesale channel first, but a collector is welcome: any box on the shop can be bought one at a time at the walk-up price, and the minimum order only decides whether you pay that or the list price. We do not sell single cards. The card pages, the Pokédex and the trackers are a free catalogue for everyone — none of it is for sale. Read the Terms of Sale for how pricing, quotes and order acceptance work, and the FAQ for the shorter version.

How we talk about prices

One thing we will not do is dress up a number. The card values shown across this site are Cardmarket European averages converted from euros at a dated reference rate — there is no US price available upstream for Japanese cards, so that is the only honest figure we can put in front of you, and we say so on every surface that prints one. Where we have no tracked value, you get an em dash rather than an estimate. And no price, cart total or quote on this site is a landed cost: duty and handling are invoiced separately at cost, always.
